Fun Short Hair Styles to Use Right Now!

Fun Short Hair Styles
Fun Short Hair Styles

There are many different types of hair length that fall under the short hairstyle category. Bald, shaved or buzzed hairs can be considered to be very short hairstyles though you will find some that disagree to calling a shaved head a hairstyle. Short caps and cropped hairstyles are about 2 to 4 inches long and the hair may just touch the tops of your earlobes. Longer caps, short bobs and layered cuts that tend to fall between the middle of the ear and the bottom of your nose.

Some individuals will consider anything to their chin to be considered a short hairstyle. However each person will have his or her own definitions. If you previously had hair that fell to your lower back then you might consider a shoulder length bob to be short. It is all relative and will vary from person to person.

Short hairstyles flatter those that have square face shapes. Short spiky cuts, one length bobs and bangs all work well. Short hairstyles can also be very easy as you only need a few minutes to style them, or if you are in a real hurry just apply some gel and let your hair air-dry.

Short hairstyles are very versatile and you can do many things with short hair. You can add small plaits and twists to create focal points when dressing for a more formal occasion. You can scrunch and tease your hair for dressier occasion or even add extensions. Your short hairstyle can be minimally styled for everyday styles, sweeping your bangs to one side as an example. You can spike your hair for a more wild do or sleek it back for that roaring twenties look.

To maintain short hair you will need to have it trimmed frequently. To style it properly you should have a good blow drier and products that suit your hair texture and type. You can also have a lot of fun with accessories, like clips, ribbons and bands, etc. If you are getting a short hair style after having long hair then you should think about getting long layers as you can utilize many different styles.

Short cuts may not work for everyone. If you have curly hair then a short cut may cause your curls to pop out. You need to make sure that you have the correct texture and type of hair that would be flattering for a short hairstyle. Once you have made the chose to go short you should look at photos and determine the type of short hairstyle you want.

If you are unsure then you should speak with your stylist. They are very knowledgeable and will be able to give you advice on a flattering hairstyle for your face and hair.

Straight, Sleek Hair Styles

Straight, Sleek Hair Styles
Straight, Sleek Hair Styles

Today the "in" look for teens through womanhood is the straight, sleek hair styles that exude confidence, poise, and style. Unfortunately, most of us were not born with perfect hair. We fight curls, frizziness, coarseness, fineness, color (or lack thereof), and downright contrariness when it comes to our hair. We even go so far as to rate how our day is going by a "good" or "bad" hair day. A woman may be impeccably dressed with perfect makeup, nails, and accessories, but if her hair is a mess, she does NOT look good. Conversely, if her hair is gorgeous, she still looks good. So, I think it's safe to say that a woman's hair is either her best or worst asset. To get the straight, sleek styles that so many women admire these days, there are a few "must haves" to get this trendy look.

Assuming you have a good haircut, the first step in creating your sleek "do" is selecting a shampoo and conditioner which address the difficult areas of your hair. Determine the factors that make your hair challenging and look for products that correct these flaws. You will need a shampoo and conditioner that lend themselves to the straight styling and anti-frizz look. Ask your hair professional for suggestions. He/She is most familiar with your hair and the products which will work well for you.

After the shampoo and conditioning are done, a finishing product should be used on wet hair which will enhance your ability to achieve the straight style you are pursuing. Again, there are numerous products available for use before blow drying your hair, and individual hair needs will vary. Personally, since my untamed hair is coarse, colored, and frizzy, I swear by the products that contain sunscreens, vitamins, and SILICONS. They make lackluster hair shiny and manageable. Some of the best finishing products on the market are Citre Shine's Miracle Anti-Frizz Serum, John Frieda's Frizz-Ease Hair Serum, Marc Anthony's Simply Straight Instant Straightening Cream, Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum, an Herbal Essence's None of Your Frizziness.

After applying the finishing product, dry your hair with a hair dryer which is designed to give you the desired results. Not all hair dryers are equal. For fly away or fine hair, select a product that has ionic heat like Hot Tools Anti-Static Ion Professional. This dryer uses negative ions to eliminate static and conditions hair with a moist heat that seals in moisture. If you straighten your hair more than once a week, use a dryer with an infrared heat feature since it dries hair from the inside out and causes less damage to the hair (CHI Rocket Professionals). If humid climate wreaks havoc on your tresses, try a dryer that features crystals like Metropolis Z-Ion Zirconia. This dryer feature uses zirconia crystals to counteract the charge that creates frizziness and results in glossier hair.

Once you have applied the finishing product and dried your hair with a good quality dryer, it is now time to add the crowning touch with a flat iron. To protect against heat damage from a flat iron, you should use a heat protector. Although some of the finishing products mentioned earlier have heat protection properties, I still find it helpful to use a heat protective spray. Some of the most effective heat protectant products are Tresemme, Tigi S Factor, Keratase's Ciment Thermique, GHD Thermal Spray, and Redken Heat Glide.

Again, like hair dryers, flat irons are not all the same. Some of the best rated flat irons (at least 4 stars out of 5) are Sedu Pro Ionic Ceramic, Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion, HAI Convertable Ceramic, CHI Ceramic, GHD Classic Styler Hair Straightener and BaByliss. Personally, I have a CHI Ceramic flat iron and have been very pleased with it.

To create a dazzling straight style, your hair should be straightened in small sections. I use metal hair clips to separate my hair into sections. Beginning with the bottom layer of hair, I take a small section of hair, spray with the heat protectant, and apply the flat iron next to the roots and slowly glide the iron along the hair section to the ends with a smooth, straight motion. This process is repeated until all hair sections have been straightened.

Finally,if desired, use a finishing spray (hair spray). I skip this step since the finishing product and heat protectant seal my hair, making hair spray unnecessary. Also hair spray will create a stiffer effect and prohibit your hair from having silky, flowing texture and movement.

After following each of these steps carefully and using good products and appliances to straighten and enhance your best hair features, you are now ready to step back and admire your beautiful tresses. Put on your fashion best, go out on the town, and get ready for lots of compliments!

Thin Hair Style

Thin Hair Style
Thin Hair Style
When you have thinner hair, it can be hard to find the right hairstyle that will not only compliment your facial shape but also perhaps hide the thinning spots of your hair as well. All too many times the latest and most popular hairstyles tend to only accentuate your thinning hair instead of making you feel more comfortable and fashionable. There are millions of people who have thin or fine hair that may not go well with absolutely every hairstyle, but there are many great hairstyles that can compliment your hair and your style.

As men and women both experience thinning and fine hair, men have to be just as careful with their hairstyles as women. For men the absolute best hairstyle and cut to go with is of course the short hairstyle. If you have really fine and thinning hair than you will want to avoid the spiked up look but if your hair is only slightly fine than you can more than likely still pull off the gelled spikes and enjoy this style as it is a classic that will never go out of style. If you hair is too fine for this look than there is nothing wrong with leaving your hair short and not styled. Men can pull off this look as sexy, rugged and even casual.

As a woman, it is not as easy to find the best hairstyles to compliment their thin or fine hair. Short hairstyles are known for taking the attention away from your hair and back to your face. This makes the shorter lengths, about chin length or slightly longer, your best choice for appropriate length. The side swept bangs are very popular for 2008 and they are perfect for thinning hair because they bring attention to your face and add a bit of volume to your hair cut at the same time. To create the appearance of thicker and fuller hair all you have to do is pin your hair behind your ears. It is the simplest technique to create the appearance of thick hair, even if you don't have it.

Thin Hair Style

If you are attached to your long hair, there are several different styles you can go with in order to hide your thinning or fine hair and make it appear as though you have a thick head of hair. Any style that allows you to pull your hair up into a fancy up-do or even just a pony tail can help you minimize the look of thinning hair. Braids are another option you have at your disposal as they create a great look for going out at night and going to work during the day. Each of these ideas provides a variety of different options within one another so you are never coming up blank with hairstyle ideas.

For those of you out there with thinning hair it is important to stay out of the sun for longer periods of time because this can greatly damage your hair and even make it thin that much more. Also using curling irons or flat irons on a regular basis is also something you should try to avoid. These are both damaging treatments for your hair, if you can avoid using products and styling tools to create your hairstyle you should.

You are not alone, there are millions of people who have the same thinning hair problem and are looking for great hairstyles to disguise it. By following these great tips and steps you are on the road to a new look and a new you! There is nothing better than loving your new hairstyle and hiding your thin areas.

Thick Hair Style

Having thick hair can be a blessing and a curse. You can learn how to deal with your thick hair so that it is more blessing than curse. Follow this advice and you can avoid the frustration that comes with spending hours in front of the mirror and ending up with Marge Simpson hair.

First off you need to seek out professional advice on the kind of cut you should maintain. Go to a well established salon and remember you really do get what you pay for. You can however, see a lower priced stylist for subsequent visits. This stylist can follow the higher priced cut. If you have thick and coarse hair never allow a stylist to use thinning, or razor shears. They are trying to help you with all your thick hair but it will just make it worse.

The daily blow dry is the hardest part of dealing with thick hair. Rule number one, stop washing your hair every day. It's not good for it. Your hair needs a certain amount of natural oil to remain healthy and supple. Too much blow drying and heat styling also damages the cuticle. Try to only wash your hair every three days. This will cut down on time spent dealing with your thick hair and make it more healthy and manageable. Color treated hair will also fade less. When you do wash your hair ensure that a proper job is done. You may need to lather with shampoo and rinse twice. Investing in a hand held shower head is also advisable. This will allow you to control the spray and rinse out any product completely. After you apply and rinse a deep conditioning treatment, also apply a light, leave in detangling conditioner. Use a wide tooth comb to work it through the hair. Wrap hair in a towel and allow the towel to soak up the water for around ten minutes. When you begin the blow dry process you don't need to use a brush until the hair is almost dry. Then use a round brush with boar bristles and blow dry by sections as you brush it straight. It you have naturally curly or wavy hair you can apply a curling cream before you blow dry and gently cradle the curls as you dry them. You will also need to use a diffuser attachment.

Styling thick hair in a straight style requires a flat iron. Invest in a high end ceramic plated iron. Thick hair requires an even high heat. Separate your hair into sections with clips and iron in quarter inch sections from the roots to the ends. Use a heat styling guard to prevent damage to your hair. Finish with a shine and anti frizzing serum.

To style your thick curly hair you will need a curling wand. This is like a curling iron but without the clamp. This allows you to follow the natural shape of your curl. Gently wrap your curl around the wand and hold for fifteen seconds. Finish with an anti frizzing spray that also offers hold.

Daily maintenance can be cut in half by using a miracle product called dry shampoo. It may sound strange models and actresses have been using it for years. It's available in a mousse, powder, and an aerosol spray and can be purchased at beauty supply stores, drug stores and some salons. You simply spray at the roots and either brush or towel through your hair. If you have curly hair then you will prefer the mousse as you only need to gently spread the product through your hair and no brushing is needed. This product is very useful if you have invested in a professional blowout. You can extend the life of your blowout by at least two days. Just apply the dry shampoo according to the manufactures instructions, hit the roots with your hair dryer and then apply a smoothing serum (if your hair is straight) or an anti frizzing product (for curly hair).

Sedu Hair Styles

Sedu Hair Styles
Sedu Hair Styles
As the editor for Hair Resources, I visit many beauty and hair related websites. Over the last year I have noticed a growing popularity of the search term Sedu Hair Styles and even more popularity of the Sedu Flat Irons.

So, I had to check out this growing trend to see what Sedu Hair Styles are all about. The original mission statement of the company Sedu Beauty, established in 1991, is to transform every Nonhairless female species on the planet into a Seductive beauty, Sedu for short. It turns out that they also have many male admirers.

The flat irons by Sedu are rated the best by consumers and are mentioned as being preferred by top hair stylists around the world. Okay, this has definitely got my attention now.

I went to the company website, over at http://www.sedubeauty.com and saw many pictures of before and after using the Sedu Flat Iron. The after pictures all showed silky smooth and noticeably shiny straight hair, as opposed to the before pictures that showed very curly, frizzy or downright unmanageable looking hair.

I do have to admit that I was a little skeptical after seeing the photos. I kept looking on the website for the little disclaimer that says 'Results not typical....etc.' that you always find in weight loss advertisements. But no such disclaimer can be found.

For review purposes, I ordered a 1-1/2 inch Sedu Ionic Flat Iron from one of the authorized sellers listed on the company website. The package arrived late one afternoon, just before I had to go pick up my daughters from school. I had only about 10 minutes to spare before I had to leave, but I was really anxious to try out this flat iron.

Here is an account of what happened next. My hair was freshly washed and dried, so I just put a small amount of Biosilk Silk Therapy that the company recommends you use before flat ironing. My hair is very thick and about shoulder length. I actually have to clip up most of my hair and start flat ironing from the bottom layer. With my old flat iron, it usually takes a good 15 minutes to iron my hair, with not all that great results.

Time Line:

3:10 p.m. I plug in the Sedu Ionic Flat Iron; put it on the hottest temperature

3:10 p.m. and 25 seconds later. The green light is blinking indicating that the iron is ready to use. I start with the bottom layer, gradually letting more hair down until I have run the flat iron over all my hair. With this iron you only have to pass it one time over your hair. With my old iron I had to run it thru several times to get good results. P.S. You definitely don't want to touch your hair after running the flat iron over it. It is VERY HOT.

3:18 p.m. I'm done!!!!

My hair looks absolutely awesome. It is smooth and silky, just like in the pictures. And, it actually stayed that way for almost two whole days before I washed it again. Several people asked me the first day and the next day if I got my hair cut or just went to the salon.

Important factors to consider when flat ironing your hair on a regular or daily basis is the wear and tear it will produce on your hair, perhaps causing split ends or even damaging your hair. If you visit many hair related forums, damaged hair from flat ironing is a frequent topic.

Dennis Huang, the brand manager for the Sedu line, says that the Sedu Flat irons are made from Tourmaline, a precious stone. This stone was used because it generates up to 6 times more negative ions upon heating than traditional ceramic irons. The extra negative ions along with gentle far-infrared heat guarantee soft, smooth, frizz-free silky straight hair without heat damage. Also, Sedu's patented ultra-smooth plates guarantee smooth straightening motion without pulling, snagging or breaking the hair.

Huang mentions that many flat irons on the market have very rough surfaces on the plates. He adds, "Most irons cause hair damage because essentially you are straightening your hair with a heated sand paper."

Many hair stylists recommend using some sort of silicone based product on the hair before flat ironing in order to protect the hair. Sedu Beauty recommends Biosilk Silk Therapy and Sedu Heat Protectant. They also recommend using lower heat settings for different types of hair. If you have bleached, fragile, damaged or fine hair--use the lower temperature setting. If you have normal hair and use the iron regularly, use the middle range of temperatures and if you have coarse, thick, ethnic or resistant hair that is in a healthy condition you can use the maximum heat for best results.

In short, my conclusion, 8 minutes and a Sedu Ionic Flat Iron has made a huge difference in the way my hair looks and feels. It is THUMBS UP from Hair Resources.

Wavy Hair Styles

Wavy Hair Styles
Wavy Hair Styles

Many people are breaking the traditions to sport trendy looks which makes them look different from others. Changing your hairstyle is the first step in changing your personality. There are various types of hairstyles which can be chosen depending on your personality, employment and hair type. It is very important that if you are going for a hairstyle change, you should consult a hairstyling expert so that you do not end up damaging your hair.

You can choose from straights, braids, layered or wavy hair styles depending on the type of your hair. Wavy hair styles are most suited for those individuals either thick or curly hair. These styles help you to attain an exciting look which would be definitely liked by others. Further, it is very easy to sport the wavy hair styles without even going to the stylist.

First, you need to apply water to your hair for some time and start applying some conditioner to your hair. You need to ensure that you do not apply it harshly, just apply it gently. After showering for few minutes, start combing your hair from the root to the tip. You can even massage your scalp which would help removing any traces of dandruff. Hot water should be avoided as it would not have the desired effect. You need to use cold water instead.

Afterwards, soak your hair using a towel, but ensure that you don't end up drying your hair completely. Then shake your hair so that the curls are separated which gives an elegant look to your hair. Any kind of serum needs to be applied to the hair avoiding the skin so as to prevent development of dandruff. You can apply your fingers to create any style which you like. Use of any means to dry the hair should be avoided and after this you can use a gel or a balm to help the hair to maintain the style.

Braided Hair Styles

Many advantages are associated with the braided hair styles such as minimum maintenance requirement and a trendy look. Women generally prefer to have long hair and they can sport some cook looks with the braided hair styles and too, without much hassle. Further, they can have different style every day or whenever the need of switching the styles is felt by them.

The braided hair styles are such styles with which multiple strands of hair are interwoven. Such styles have been used by women all around the globe for thousands of years. You can sport the braided hair styles yourself, and you need not to go to hair stylist! These can help you attain a youthful look and organize your hair in any way you want. You have a number of ways to play with your hair using such styles and you are limited only by your own imagination.

These days, women who have long hair tend to organize their braids across their head and use trendy headbands. You can try any designs of the headbands as you like and even choose to not wear the headbands. Such a look is sported by many women and it looks quite stylish. In case you can't do it by yourself, you can take help of someone else to help you in organizing them. You can even organize your braids in the form of a bun, if you have to attend any formal function or in your office.

You can even keep your braids loose which is mostly suited on black hair. Micro braids are chosen by women who prefer weaving few strands to form braids. There no hard rules concerning these styles. You can combine any of them to create your own style statement. However, you should take enough care of your hair while trying these combinations. This is because experimenting with them without giving them proper nourishment like oil and shampoo can damage them.

Hair Styles Fringes

Hair Styles Fringes
Hair Styles Fringes

If the fabulous looks of Jennifer Anniston with her fringe bangs mesmerized you, then you too can get that style done with your hair and add a unique softness to your hairstyle. Fringe bangs are one among the immensely popular bang hairstyles for that subtle look. Often cut well past the eye, fringe bang hairstyles can take away attention from some peculiar facial features like high forehead. If you want to make your eyes prominent or add that special touch to your smile, curly fringe bang hairstyles done off the face can be an excellent choice.

Fringe bang hairstyle can go well with both straight hair and curly or wavy hair. If your straight hair looks a bit too severe and needs to be softened, the new shorter and blunter bangs and fringes would be your ideal choice. You can also try the new hair hand painting, BayLage, to add highlights or dramatic and bold color accents to give your hair a sexier look or a unique focus. For curly or wavy hair, you can leave the bangs in the natural state of curl or wave. To keep your hair in shape and give that soft romantic look, you may consider some trimming of the curls or waves. Asymmetrical and angular cuts in most curly hair textures can give you the best results.

The Classic Fringe bang hairstyle giving the fresh look and emphasizing the eyes ushered in the popularity of the bangs hairstyle. This bang has the edges just skimming the eyes, and texture, color, or styling techniques can easily be applied to get along with your life style. By adding bang color on your one-all-over color hair, you can add interest and a focal point to your hair. The variations are endless and fun is a major choice for the younger woman or the teens.

Other popular fringe bangs are shattered bangs and fringes, side swept bangs and fringes, choppy bangs and fringes, and extreme asymmetrical bangs and fringes. By having extreme angles that drop sharply from side to side, you can create the shattered or disconnected bangs. Chopping blunt edges into the bang area at uncommon locations and unexpected lengths give a more radical style and make you look simply incredible. Side swept fringes and bangs give a very classy and elegant look, particularly suiting women in their forties and fifties. For allowing the hair softly taper from a shorter length to a longer length, the bang is cut creating a part a little higher and leaving the hair to fall forward across the forehead. For thick hair, side swept bang can be an ideal choice, as it offers lot of movement.

To increase the depth of your facial features, the choppy fringe bangs style can be a good choice. Cutting with scissors followed by texturizing creates the choppy effect. Adding touches of color to the bangs can create fantastic results. Cutting uneven lengths creates asymmetrical bangs. In this style, one side may be cut shorter than the other or the middle may be cut shorter than each side. Depending on the look you want to get, these differences can be very subtle or extreme. For the funkiest looks, extreme asymmetrical fringe bangs can be your style.

If you are planning to cut your own fringe bang hairstyles, use proper haircutting scissors and do not use kitchen or sewing scissors. Shorter blade scissors are easier to control and they fit your fingers and hands well. Hand scissors with blades of no more than 5 1/2 to 6 1/2" will be the best for cutting your fringe bangs at home. Before cutting, shampoo and dry your hair in the normal way and avoid using rinse out or leave in conditioners that can harden soft texture hair making it difficult for the trimming.
