The Academy Award is an accolade by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to know excellence of professionals in the film industry, including directors, actors, and writers. The formal ceremony at which the awards are accessible is one of the most prominent award ceremonies in the world and is televised live in more than 200 countries annually. It is also the oldest award ceremony in the media; its equivalents, the Grammy Awards, Emmy Awards (for television), and Tony Awards are model following the Academy.

Elvis Aaron Presleya was one of the most famous American singers of the 20th century. A cultural icon, he is widely recognized by the single name Elvis. He is often referred to as the "King of Rock and Roll" or simply "the King". Presley's first RCA single, "Heartbreak Hotel", out in January 1956, was a number one hit. He became the foremost figure of the newly popular sound of rock and roll with a series of network television appearance and chart topping records. His energized interpretation of songs, many from African American sources, and his uninhibited presentation style made him enormously popular and controversial. In November 1956, he completed his film debut in Love Me Tender.

Conscripted into military service in 1958, Presley relaunched his soundtrack career two years later with some of his most commercially winning work. He staged few concerts, however, and, guided by Parker, proceed to devote much of the 1960s to creation Hollywood movies and soundtrack albums, most of them seriously derided. He had a versatile voice and uncommonly wide success encompassing many genres, including country, pop ballads, gospel, and blues. He is the best-selling solo performer in the history of popular music. Nominated for 14 competitive Grammys, he won three, and got the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at age 36. He has been induct into 4 music halls of fame.
